25 June - St Nics Tournament

A great day for all who saw each and every player do themselves proud. The Colts managed to win 2 matches and lost 3 whilst the Tigers won 1, drew 2 and lost 2.
The Colts had George Watts to thank for a string of fine saves throughout the games.
Cameron Cook and Aidan Donnison were very well organised in defence and always seemed to be in the right place at the right time, even when outnumberred they still managed to somehow win the ball and clear the danger.
Tireless running all day from midfield duo Daniel Head and Danielle saw them cover every piece of grass on the pitch, they ran with the ball well, showed a range of passing and got the tackes in at every opportunity.
All the goals were scored by Nathan Wilson with 3 from the penalty spot plus one of the goals of the tournament. He troubled all the teams throughout the day with his pace and trickery also showing strength to lead to front line on his own when required.
These games showed the benefits for all the hard work each player has put in over the last year and they should all be very proud.

9th April - U6 Tigers V Weddington Thistle U7`S (D) 3-3
|
|
A hard fought game that saw St Nics take an early 2 goal lead before Weddington came back to 2-2. A third goal looked as though it would have been enough for St Nics to take the victory until a last minute goal from Weddington made the scores level again.
A lot of credit to all the boys who worked really hard for the whole game.

19th March - U6 Tigers v Bulkington U6`S (L) 0-1

Two late goals were enought to salvage Weddington a draw in a game that St Nicolas U6 Tigers really should have won.
Weddington started the game well and quickly took the lead and it was this goal which quickly brought the Tigers to life. They immediately picked up there game and it wasn`t long before a Josh Newton clearance found Curtis Bebby wide on the right who then proceeded into beating two defenders and buried the ball into the top corner. The two sides went into the break all square but it was the Tigers who were to come back out the stronger as Declan Brennan was played thro with a great ball from Alex Lock and he made no mistake from close range. The Tigers not happy to just sit back on there lead quickly extended there lead with some good work by Oliver Grainger freeing the ever dangerous Curtis Bebby and again hit another great shot from an accute angle to take the Tigers into a roaring lead. Weddington were to show great character and with less than two minutes on the watch, they set about there recovery and quickly pulled a goal back. As the game entered its final seconds the Tigers failed to clear there lines are made to pay the price as Thistle leveled the game.
It was a great performance by the Tigers in game that really they should have won, and ever credit went to Weddington for battling right to the very end.

4th December - St Nic`s U7`s - Game 2 (L) 0-1
|
|
St Nics U7`s just edged out there U 6`s counterparts deep into added time in this closely fought contest. The game started at a great pace with the U6`s showing that what they lacked in size they could soon make up with in skill and shear guts, with Daniel Head and Alex Lock both showing they were more than a match with there nononsence tackling. Sid Duggan and Declan Brennan both went close in the first half only to see there efforts saved by the U7`s Keeper. As the Game wore on the U7`s were to come back strongly but with Cameron Cook and Joshua Preston infront of the ever dependable Ryan Dulson the Under 6`s held firm. A free Kick by the influential Curtis Beeby was to go close in the second half and a cross shot by Oliver Grainger caused the U7`s Defence some reason for concern. However deep into injury time the U7`S were to win a corner and with the U6`s failing to clear there lines the U7`s were to have the last say with a last gasp winner.
The Under 6`s were very unlucky indeed and should be very pleased with this performance.

GAME 1
The U6`s started this game brightly with Thomas Gregson and Joshua Newton going close to scoring within the first few minutes only to be denied by the u7`s goalkeeper. As the half moved on the u7`s Started to force the u6`s back into there own half and only some resolute defending by Cameron Cook,Madison Reynolds and Aidan Donnison kept the U7`S from leveling the score. As the half drawn to a close Luke Proctor was denied by the post.
Second half saw the U6`s make a number of subs, and this immediately proved the turning point in the game, with good play from Jordan Rowe and the ever dangerous Henry Simmons the ball dropped at Jacob King`s feet and he made no mistake from 3 yards. This seemed to spark the U7`s into life as they went in search for an equaliser but George Watts in the U6 goal was in fine form stopping everything. A breakway lead by a great thro ball from lou Pacito saw the U6`s again go close to doubling there lead. Then in the last few seconds of the game the U7`S leveled after a goal mouth scrable.
This was to be the last kick of the game , a game in which the U6`s proved to be more then a match for there U7 counterparts.
