From the whistle the Colts were on the attack and determined to avenge their previous defeat to Grove Farm. Both teams displayed some great football but it was the Colts who came closest to score in the first half. The Colts continued to pressurize Grove Farm and went in at half time with the slight edge. The second half saw Grove Farm conceed a corner early on. The Colts quickly fired a great cross, from this Nathan converted it into the back of the net, to take a well earned lead. All the boys remained tight to the final whistle to gain the win. Best team performance to date. Well done boys and good luck in the next stages of the league cup.

9th April - Warriors (A) 0 - 2 (W)
Despite all boys being good friends this did not stop the game being competitive. Jason played with a different formation with four across the front, in a bid to gain the edge. The first half went from end to end with chances for both teams, but it was the Colts who broke the deadline with a great strike from Ryan rebounding of the cross bar and Brad struck it into the net. The front four quickly learnt to play as a unit and increased the pressure, but the scoreline remained Colts 1 Warriors 0 at half time. Derek's Warriors came out determined to equalize in this half and made some good chances but Harry, Mattie W and Leom kept the ball from going in the net. Matty B, Charlie and Nathan all played well and stopped the Warriors from getting a foothold back into the game. The Colts pushed on and from one move with Nathan having a one on one with the goalie, unselfishingly squared the ball to Brad who made the final score Colts 2 Warriors 0. A great game Well done to both the Warriors and the Colts.

31st March - Whitestone(H) 5 - 1(W)
Wet and windy conditions were the order of our final league game against our opposition Whitestone. St Nics found their passing boots from the off with some excellent movement of the ball. It was a delight to see the team playing from the back quickly to the front cutting through Whitestone with great accuracy. After a couple of close chances from the boys it was Matty B who opened the score sheet for St Nics to take the lead into half time 1 - 0. The boys immediately came out for the second half looking to increase their lead. Charlie scored two great goals in quick succession, a fourth by Ryan and a final goal from Harry took the scoreline to 5 - 1, with Whiteston only managing a single goal as strike back. It was an allround team performance from Leom in goal, Mattie W in defence, Sam Nathan and Brad in Midfield all aiding the final score 5 - 1 at full time. Well Done Boys!

The top two teams in the league met in the quarter final of the Police Cup with the Grove Farm having the slight home advantage. 19th March - Bulkington(H) 1 - 1(D)
The penultimate league game of the season saw Bulkington our visitors. The first half began with the Colts taking the game to Bulkington. We produced many chances but we could not convert them into goals, Bradley coming close a few times only to be denied by Bulkington goalie who was having a great game. It was Bulkington though who made the breakthrough this half with a well taken goal to make the scoreline 0 - 1 at halftime. The boys lined up for the start to the second half even more determined and pressurized from the whistle. The game progressed but the Colts equalizer eluded them. With only minutes to go on the clock the Colts managed a equaliser converted by Ryan. Well done boys with a special mention to Leom for continuing the game whilst feeling unwell.

12th March - St Nic Warriors(A) 0 - 4 (W)
On a white snowy day St Nics Warriors came up against a determined Colts side to claim the points enabling them to retain the league title for the second year running. The game kicked off evenly with only a great strike from Nathan to seperate the teams to make it 1 - 0 to the Colts at half time. From the second half kick off the Colts passed well between Tom and Charlie enabling Ryan to bag a second goal. Matty W, Harry and Sam remained strong at the back and the Warriors could not find a way through. Matty B was strong in midfield as always and helped with a great lay off to enable Bradley to score with a great shot. Quickly followed by another to take his tally of goals to two on the day. Leom ventured out of goal for the final minutes of the game and looked confident. Well done to all the boys and a special mention to manager Jase!!!

27th February - Attleborough(H)2 - 1 (w)
Both sides kicked off the first half in a competitive manner and it was evenly matched. St Nics took the lead after ten minutes after a great cross from Matty B enabled Ryan to strike into the top corner. Our back line Harry and Matty W were called into action on many occasions but helped us keep a clean sheet 1 - 0 at half time. In the second half the games intensity increased with chances at both ends but it was Attleborough who bought the scoreline level, with an unstoppable strike, which even Leom couldn't have hoped to stop. Any hope of a Attleborough revival were soon dashed after good movement between Nathan and Charlie enabled Sam to score the match winner, with only minutes of the clock remaining. Final Score 2 - 1. |
It was great to see despite the cold temperatures the boys took little time to warm up on the pitch and St Nics quickly opened the scoreline courtesy of a great strike from Matty B. The boys quickly built on this, Leom remained strong in goal and Sam, Nathan and Charlie passed well which helped Ryan to bag the second. Making the score 2 - 0 at half time. The second half saw the teams positions changed and the versatile Matty W and Harry played with ease upfront and were unlucky not to score further goals. St Nics went to Weddington expecting a close game and were not disappointed. From the whistle the tight pitch proved difficult for the front three Matty B, Brad and Ryan to pass the ball around. The breakthrough in this half came when Matty B was brought down and St Nics were awarded a penalty, which was converted by Ryan. Nathan and Sam continued to pressurize but one goal split the teams at half time. Weddington came out from the whistle determined to get a equalizer, which came from a corner, a great strike which even Liam couldn't of been expected to save. The boys were not deterred by this.Tom and Harry defended well which made it difficult for Weddington to capitalize on their goal. 5th February - Whitestone(A) 0 - 1 (W)
The second round of the Nuneaton Police Cup saw St Nics drawn away to Whitestone. Despite a heavy going pitch, the boys played great football, enjoying a large proportion of posession, stumbling only in finding a way to break down the exceptional goalie for Whitestone, who seemed to stop everything that was thrown at him. The score line was 0 - 0 at half time. Despite the even scoreline St Nics continued to pressurize straight from the second half whistle. With ten minutes to go St Nics took the lead from a great break down the left from Matty B who then passed it to Ryan to strike it into the net. The final score Whitestone 0 St Nics 1. Well done boys. We all look forward to the quarter finals.

From the whistle St Nics went on the attack creating good chances. Nathan was first to convert one of these chances to a goal, to give St Nics the lead. Bradley scored a fourth and Ryan a fifth to finish the match off. 11th December - Bedworth Eagles Colts(H) 3 - 1 (W)
The first match after a four week break St Nic colts came up against a determined Bedworth side. They defended well and were only broken down by a great goal scored by Nathan (contender for the goal of the season) . The boys played most the football in Bedworth Eagles half but a quick equalizer came from Bedworth Eagles against the run of play to make it 1 - 1 at half time. St Nics started the second half in a different gear and displayed some great passing and ball control resulting in a great finish by Matty Bird, to gain control of the scoreline at 2 - 1. 13th November - Warriors (H) 5 - 0 (W)
This was the "game" of the season so far for both of our St Nics teams and from the whistle the Colts took up the attack and the Warriors were forced to defend. The ball was quickly passed from one team member of the Colts to another and two early goals were finished off by Ryan. Making it 2 - 0 at half time. The second half mirrored the first for quick pace this was evermore apparent in the quick feet of Matty Bird contributing to a futher three goals, two finished by Charlie and a final one for Ryan, leaving the score at the final whistle as 5 - 0 . Undetered by todays result I am confident the Warriors are eagerly awaiting the rematch to reverse todays score. Well done to both teams!

6th November - Whitestone (A) 0-3 (W)
On the day more suited to water sking then football the game kicked off after a quick change of venue. Sheeting rain accompanied the boys from start to finish but even this couldn't dampen the strong determination of the team. We think all the boys must of been wearing their "passing" boots as their best performance to date in the league was recorded. The first goal came with a deft touch from Bradley to help it on its way and a quick strike from Ryan made it 2 - 0 at half time. The boys continued to ooze confidence in the second half with Liam in goal then Mattie and Nathan at the back, Matty B and Sam working hard in mid-field and Charlie and Brad up front. Brad scored the final goal to make it 3 - 0. Whitestone battled well in the conditions but St Nics strong will saw them remain on top. Very well done boys!

2nd October - Ambleside Marlins (H) 3 - 0 (W)
Gary Wainwright / Chris Bird had the pleasure of being co managers for this game as Jason had gone Xmas shopping in Spain (I mean golfing). St Nics had home advantage and started the sharper and quicker of the two sides. Ambleside tried to match St Nics for movement but this led to themselves constantly defending. A quick succession of goals from Ryan Ball made the score line 2 - 0 at half time. Ambleside came out for the second half determined to close St Nics down which they found hard to do as another goal was quickly conceeded, a great strike from Sam. Great team performance. Full time score 3 - 0. Well done boys and stand in co-managers!
